“It’s an honor to receive this distinction,” said Lisa Finken, HR Generalist for Mahowald. “IBA is a very well-known, well-respected voice in the insurance world, and this really calls out [Mahowald’s] hard work and dedication to our clients. It speaks to the whole organization’s philosophy of doing the right thing by our clients.”
The honor comes after a rigorous nationwide evaluation of insurance workplaces in two phases, including an employee-response portion. Employees from each agency anonymously ranked their workplace on a number of metrics, including benefits, compensation, culture and employee development. A minimum number of employees were required to respond in order for their workplace to be eligible for Top Insurance Workplace consideration.
Nominees that achieved an 80% or greater average satisfaction rating from employees relative to the size of their organization were named a Top Insurance Workplace. Mahowald’s average satisfaction rating of 94.7% was the second-highest score both within its size bracket and across all nominees.
Finken says she believes the company’s 360° approach to employee wellbeing helped set Mahowald apart from other insurance workplaces.
“Mahowald Cares is our team member wellbeing program, and it has a five-pronged approach, like spokes on a wheel: Career, Community, Financial, Physical and Social,” Finken explained. “Each of these five areas fosters our wellbeing culture, and that extends out into the community, too. This way, every aspect of our lives and our clients’ lives are covered.”
Mahowald was among 67 total companies that achieved the distinction of being named a Top Insurance Workplace for 2020. The company has proudly served the Central Minnesota community for 90 years.
